We love to make them travel around the world and see them being adapted for other media and formats. We are passionate about good stories and as a team, we handle domestic rights such as audio, special editions, and film & tv adaptations as well as foreign rights. With our growing national and international network, our goal is to find the perfect homes for our authors and their books.

Translation Rights
Seeing our books read and appreciated around the world is what we are here for. From commercial to literary, contemporary to classics, Ullstein books have sold into 40 languages. Annette Hess’ »German House«, Johannes Krause’s and Thomas Trappe’s »The Journey of Our Genes«, and of course »Gut« by Giulia Enders have been international bestsellers. We attend all the major book fairs and industry events and take regular trips to match our books with the right foreign publishers. Film & TV
We love to pave the way for our authors’ stories to show on both big and small screens. We actively pitch their work at all major German and numerous international film festivals. Many of our titles have been adapted for film and television or are currently under option with producers in Germany and abroad. One such project is the 2019 novel Schattenseite by actor, content creator, and social media star Jonas Ems. The resulting six-part series, directed by Özgür Yildirim and Alison Kuhn, explores Gen Z themes and tackles issues like cyberbullying and hacking. Now in post-production, the series will be available on ARD Mediathek later this year.
